Start with the right Local Offer
Local Offers can explain school support and local SEND services. They do not determine the NHS autism pathway, which can cover a different geography.
Support before diagnosis
Ask the school or setting what adjustments, SEN Support and review arrangements can begin now.
Health pathways are separate
Do not assume an NHS assessment pathway from council boundaries. Check the pathway with your GP, school health contact or relevant NHS service.
When more help may help
Use free school and statutory support first. Independent support is optional and should not replace the school’s duties.
