BUCKINGHAMSHIRE SEND GUIDANCE
SEND Support in Buckinghamshire
Independent guidance for families exploring school support, EHCPs, autism, ADHD, assessments, therapies and local SEND routes. Buckinghamshire Council and Milton Keynes City Council are separate statutory authorities.
Which Local Authority applies to you?
Your child’s school may be in a different area from your home. Follow statutory guidance from the Local Authority responsible for your child’s SEND or EHCP case. If that authority is elsewhere, use its information rather than assuming the county page applies.
Buckinghamshire Council
Primary SEND authority for the Buckinghamshire council area.
Milton Keynes City Council
A separate statutory authority with its own Local Offer, SENDIAS and EHC process.
My Local Authority is elsewhere / I’m not sure — use the authority responsible for your child’s SEND or EHCP case. Future location matching will allow authorities to be chosen independently from the broad area.
EHCP Help
Separate assessment and EHCP routes by authority.
Autism Support
Support before diagnosis and school-led next steps.
ADHD Support
Needs-led support, local routes and national guidance.
School Support
SEN Support, SENCO conversations and review steps.
Assessments
Educational psychology and assessment questions.
Therapy & Support
National guidance on sensory, communication and family support.
Support across Buckinghamshire
The initial local geography includes Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Chesham, Amersham, Marlow, Buckingham, Beaconsfield, Princes Risborough, Gerrards Cross and Winslow. Milton Keynes is intentionally handled as a separate Local Authority.
